Let's look at this again and maybe we can use some of Westy's "inferential analysis" and see if 2 + 2 = 5.

"Motorola Displays Next-Generation Wireless Internet

October 8, 1999 ? Motorola will be showing is new smart phones at next week's Telecom '99 show in Geneva Switzerland, the company says.
The company will preview its Timeport P1088 phone, a dual-band GSM phone based on Java technology. The phone supports Wireless Application protocol and will provide both Web browsing and e-mail for users.
The company also will preview the Timeport P7389, another WAP-compliant phone that includes personal information management capabilities. The previews come in the wake of a spate of smart phone introductions from a variety of vendors."

OK - now let's use that "inferential analysis" -

1. Motorola
2. MOT ads featuring IDX (for the past 2-3 months)
3. Telephones
4. ASCOM (Swiss telecom company)
5. Geneva, Switzerland
6. Europe - they are more open to biometrics and fingerprinting
7. "personal information management capabilities" (this implies a need for SECURITY)

Have I forgotten anything? This little announcement didn't say anything about biometrics and that is a negative but, the preponderance of the evidence points towards a positive development for IDX. I have been saying that the MOT ads should produce an announcement from MOT sometime in October and the ads are getting more urgent and frequent each week - because they sure have been promoting MOT/IDX recently and MOT isn't spending this ad money for nothing.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens next week.
