Press release
Virtual Groceries.com expanding under M&A West, Inc.
San Bruno, CA—October 8, 1999— Virtualgroceries.com is being expanded by M&A West, Inc. (OTC BB: MAWI) (www.mawest.com), a company that develops, invests in and operates Internet and technology-related companies and Digital Bridge, Inc. (www.digitalbridge.com), an E-Commerce development company.
VirtualGroceries.com plans to position itself as "The Internet Storefront" for independent local grocers throughout the United States.
Scott Kelly, President and CEO of M&A West, Inc. stated, "VirtualGroceries.com is not attempting to build a large infrastructure of warehouses such as Webvan (Nasdaq: WBVN) or Peapod (Nasdaq: PPOD) and compete with the existing grocery businesses. We look at VirtualGroceries.com as a way for the bricks and mortar companies to contest with the emerging, Web-based competition."
This integrated online ordering allows customers to shop from a broad range of products and stores or just from a page exclusively for the store at which they like to shop. Customers also have the option to either have their groceries delivered, or be able to pick up the groceries from their local store already bagged and ready to go. VirtualGroceries.com believes that this model is ideal for the consumer in that it allows the consumer to continue to shop at places she or he knows and trusts with the added time savings and conveniences that only the Internet can offer.
VirtualGroceries.com is currently negotiating with several Bay Area-based grocers and continues to seek out additional bricks and mortar partners. VirtualGroceries.com is in a unique position to offer its partners cost effective and cost saving ways to compete in the online grocery market. For more information on available partnerships, please call (888) 677-6600.
