Quest Products Announces Launch of Adjustable Polarized Sunglasses; Business Update
SYOSSET, N.Y., Oct. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Quest Products Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: QPRC - news) announced today that it has successfully completed development of its newest product -- adjustable polarized sunglasses -- which allow the wearer to change the color of the sunglass lenses, at any time, to a variety of colors without changing the lenses or altering the frame. The concept has been in research and development by Quest for more than two years. The invention is protected by U.S. Patent No. 5,546,141. Quest has the exclusive right to manufacture and sell sunglasses, ski-goggles, diving masks and all other applications of the patented technology under the patent through the year 2013 pursuant to an exclusive license agreement signed on October 6, 1999. Quest's patent lawyers are also presently pursuing at least two additional patents involving this new technology. Quest's President, Herbert Reichlin, provided further detail: ''To our knowledge there is no sunglass product like ours for sale anywhere in the world. By simply rotating the lenses within the ultra thin frame the wearer can choose from a variety of colors including amber, blue, green, grey and rose. The technology also allows one to go from lighter to darker within the same color. There are no replacement lenses to purchase, replace, carry or interchange. The sunglasses can have either non-prescription or prescription lenses. Change lens colors on a whim to match your mood or for fashion or fun or change colors to take advantage of the distinct visual enhancements which each polarized color offers in varying lighting conditions. Turn to blue to soften the glare on the bright ski slopes or turn to amber when the sky darkens to brighten and improve your view.'' According to Mr. Reichlin, Quest is now working with well-known and highly regarded frame designers to finalize the product line which the Company plans to offer for sale in the spring of 2000. The Quest sunglasses will be featured on Quest's new corporate web site -- quest-products.com -- which is presently under construction but will open soon.
The Company also announced that its annual 10K filing will be made on October 29, 1999. The primary business of Quest Products Corporation during the past several years has been the distribution and sale of its PHASE OUT product which is designed to help cigarette smokers quit smoking by modifying the cigarette rather than the smoker. PHASE OUT appeals to those individuals who are afraid or unwilling to try the patch products or to ingest drugs as well as to those persons who feel that they must continue to smoke while they are weaned off of cigarettes. The PHASE OUT product is now available for sale in more than 12,000 retail stores throughout the United States including such major chain stores as RITE-AID, ECKERD, GENOVESE, JEWEL FOOD, LUCKY and OSCO. The RITE-AID chain of 3800 stores is presently in the process of installing new display units for better placement and marketing of PHASE OUT. PHASE OUT is also available for purchase by consumers directly from its web site phase-out.com.
