Burt, I agree with your post for the most part, but I would put AMD's chances of independent survival more like 80-20 against. Intel will absolutley not concede anything to AMD on the high-end, so I expect the war of attrition to actually get more intense. I would expect an acquisition, or at least a major equity investment by someone, but the fact of the matter is that no one wants to get into a bloody war with Intel when there are so many lucrative areas to compete. Apparently, Gerstner has learned well from previous IBM mistakes. It's absurd that Sanders is still running the show...this benefits consumers and some of his well-paid henchman, but the AMD shareholder is always left out in the cold.
