THQ SPONSORS THE THQ U.S. OPEN, THE WORLD?S RICHEST MOTOCROSS RACE THQ Title Sponsor of Annual U.S. Open Motocross Race in Las Vegas, Nevada
LAS VEGAS, Nevada - October 8, 1999 - THQ Inc. (NASDAQ NMS: THQI) is kicking off its multi-product, cross-platform motocross series this weekend at the THQ U.S. Open. The three-day event brings the world?s best motocross racers together to compete for the largest purse in motocross racing. Fans will gather in the MGM Grand Hotel Garden Arena in Las Vegas at 8 p.m. tonight for the Four-Stroke qualifiers, 80cc Practice and Freestyle exhibition. Saturday, October 8th and Sunday, October 9th qualifiers from the Four-Stroke and 80cc race will compete with THQ U.S. Open 250cc invitees. The THQ U.S. Open culminates on Sunday evening when $300,000 will be distributed to the winners of each class.

The THQ U.S. Open will feature a comprehensive race roster including a Four-Stroke class race qualifier tonight that will continue throughout the weekend and will be broadcast on ESPN. Tomorrow night and Sunday, the 80cc and 250cc class races will be held. The winners of all three classes will be announced on Sunday evening at 5:00 p.m.
As title sponsor of the THQ U.S. Open, THQ?s presence will include signage in and around the arena including hay bale covers, banners along the race track perimeter and in the pit area, as well as jumbotron scoreboard monitor promotional spots. THQ sponsorship mentions will be made over the public address system throughout the race. Event highlights featuring THQ will broadcast on ESPN, FOX Sports West and SpeedVision further promoting "Championship Motocross featuring Ricky Carmichael."
THQ U.S. Open attendees will also get a chance to play THQ?s recently released "Championship Motocross featuring Ricky Carmichael" for the PlayStation, at several game kiosks throughout the Garden Arena. T-shirts, games and autographed posters will be available to kiosk visitors in addition to a chance at winning an authentic KX80 Kawasaki race bike. This contest give-away is sponsored by THQ and Kawasaki?s Team Green. "Championship Motocross featuring Ricky Carmichael" is the first motocross title released by THQ.
