As for being beaten by DSL, I don't see a clear winner ever emerging. Each will grow over the next few years. Each will have improvements in the next few years that will alleviate problems they experience.

DSL will come up with a device that will boost the signal and increase the distance. I am not technical enaouhg to know the name of the device that is used in LAN and WANS to boos the distance that those signals can travel. Same will happen for DSL.

Cable will find methods of eliminating slower speeds at peak times.

Wireless will serve many in remote areas. Each has strengths and weaknesses. Each has coverage areas where the other doesn't as well as some overlap.

Ramblin. Sorry. I just don't see a clear winner...nor a loser.
