Hi All, Just checking back in, briefly...addicted that I am, here with my newfound friends, Raju and Rajess in Katmandu now. We journeyed from Beijing to Chengdu, toured a panda bear preserve, then flew on to Lhasa, where they sell you air in small cans - 34 yuan each, a great deal! From Lhasa we journeyed by bus via the traditional route to Xigase, quite an event 11 hours or so, crossing two passes over 15K, well one was really over 16K feet. I felt horrible! And the snowline is at 19K so I felt frustrated!

Now we've flown on over the hump passing Everest on just an impossibly clear day in a China Southwest Air 757. The mountains looked higher than we were, perhaps they were. Saw it all, the south col, Lhotse face, Macalu, etc. I was amazed! Hard to describe, life in this region is too different to describe. All for now, paying 6 rupees a minute for this...whatever the hell that costs...
