Retailers reported better-than-expected sales for September. Discount chains again led the industry, and some analysts said they planned to raise earnings estimates for Wal-Mart (NYSE:WMT - news), Dayton Hudson (NYSE:DH - news) and Costco (NasdaqNM:COST - news).
