Jim:

the question for 1999 then becomes are there any current gorillas that are viewed so negatively by their customers that the customers will welcome an alternate choice if one were available?

1. as a non-techie, MSFT and Windows......hence, excitement about Linux.....before I get flamed, we owe Gates and MSFT a great deal for propelling the PC industry, and perhaps more...but for shear animosity, I would pick MSFT.....ever try to get them on the phone for technical support? The inability to reach them without overcoming many hurdles reeks of an imperious attitude.

2. James, your contributions are excellent and substantial, and I would like to extend our appreciation from the Roundtable. You're one of a growing group of new-bloods who are RTFM, coming out of lurk mode, and helping the rest of us with your insight.. Strong work.
