jay...re: "wireless thoughts from a non techie" applying common sense......in developed areas, where an existing "wired" infrastructure and right of way exists. there probably is no financial benefit to abandon same for "wireless" too many dollars invested by "wired" entities.......would question the technical ability of "wireless" to deliver reliable signal in highly concentrated urban environment such as manhattan,tokyo, london,mexico city. buildings being "wired" internally for distribution of signal....imagine the capital cost of "wireless" to "wire" interface in these areas. perhaps someday signals carried via carrier over electric utility lines? anything possible........as long as the earth remains round, a "wireless" signal can only be continual via retransmission.....
