You have a point. But I'm afraid many investors today including myself sometimes are too focused on short term volatility and missing the long term trend. I don' t always believe there is some conspiracy theory going on the market with downgrades or stock moving down. In many cases, these analysts are just doing there 1+1=2 job where all the facts have been laid out. Communication IC used to be small niche, but not any more. The higher valuation of the sector has already proved that. And now GS starting the sector and ML covering the sector as well. Analysts are just not wanting to miss something that will eventually become a secular growth story like ERP, CRM, network storage or E-Commerce, and so on. The trend of ASSP is just gaining momentum and despite the 30B market cap of the sector today, there is still a lot more room to go.
