Tom, I remember folks noting the Big Bang as one of many reasons, but never the main one. The real reason the bubble collapsed is because it reached a size from which expansion was unlikely, and pros noticed that there was too much productive capacity of every product. Sort of like where we are in the US today. However, unlike the Japanese, our govt. is constantly faking the economic numbers to make it appear that more expansion is possible, so it will be interesting to see how long lies can overcome reality.
