You can't stay in your house when you have the floors refinished.At least that was or is the law here.

The fumes are so toxic that they would kill a small animal.

If I were you, I would want the floors done by professionals. They can apply a wonderful finish that will last for many years.

Do you clean the floors? If Sue cleaned the floors, I don't believe she would want vinyl.
