BIG ONE SET TO HIT CHINA

With pressure building underground for some time now, north-west that rocked Taiwan recently, says expert.

Area of greatest risk -- Lanzhou

Population: Two million

The city was hit by an earthquake of 8.5 magnitude in 1920, (not 1930!!!) killing between 200,000 and 300,000 people.

-- China holds the world record in terms of number of quake victims.

-- It has been hit by 15 temblors measuring more than 8 on the Richter scale this century alone.

-- The latest -- measuring 7.8 by the Chinese -- hit the northern industrial city of Tangshan in 1976. More than 240,000 people were killed and 164,000 seriously injured in that quake.
