Actually, Steven, people do tend to rein in their vocabularies more when discussing religion than when discussing politics. That is, they are less likely to be downright abusive. As for the EEs who wander in to excoriate us all as hellbound sinners, they serve a unifying function, by rallying everyone else against them.

P.S. And we've had some great discussions about religion on this thread. I've enjoyed them. I'm not sure I'd want to repeat them, but only because repetition stales. (Just as a joke isn't funnier on the second telling.)
