Well, put some money in your pocket, walk out the door of the house, get in the car, drive to Radio Shack, get out of the car, walk inside, buy a tape recorder and a suction cup microphone, walk back outside, (oops, pay for it first with the money in your pocket), get back in the car, drive home, go inside, open the box, maybe read the instructions (even though that's not usually a guy kind of thing), plug it in, (oops again, don't forget to buy a tape -- maybe go back to the store), put in the tape, plug in the microphone and attach it to the phone, pick up the phone, press record, dial the number, and talk and/or listen.
Pretty simple. But, you can always print this out and carry it with you if it helps.
