The term "online trading hub" got me to thinking. The major nations of western Europe are in the evening hours while Wall Street is open. A huge expansion opportunity if it is not already being utilized.

Do the major brokerages in this country allow foreign nationals to open accounts with them? If so do the laws in the Euro nations allow direct foreign purchase and ownership of NYSE/NASDAQ listed securities?

I have long thought that the inevitable trend in the global markets is towards 24-hour electronic trading around the globe. Trade any security, from any country, any time of day or night, with a common electronic interface showing best prices at all times.

The NYSE is a dinosaur, trying desperately in a losing effort to hang on to their 200 year old quasi-monopoly. The internet has basically made them obsolete. The move to go public while there is still value, and before the bull market ends, after 200 years of the private old boys club mentality, is a tipoff that they have seen the handwriting on the wall.

Sorry for the non-MRVC diatribe. Has long been one of my hot buttons.
