No it is not just wishful thinking...
It is LOGICAL and SPIRITUAL.
First those who have the spirit of God know what Jesus means when he says... John 10:27 " My sheep hear my voice,.."
Now you will say to me... do the voices in my head keep you up at night... :-} Or .. We have places for people who hear voices :-}
If you have never been born of the spirit of God then you are " Spiritually Dead " You may or may not end up in heaven from here but it doesn't look good so far.. As it is written 1 John 5:12 " He that hath the son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life."
If a man is born blind he can understand the concept of sight but cannot know what sight is. If he received an eye transplant then he would know and understand what sight is. Before that he can only believe that there is sight because others have told him. Once he receives sight then he KNOWS that sight exists. Christians who are born of the Spirit of God KNOW that Gods Holy Spirit exists and is working in them.
There are about 5000 existing manuscripts... No Originals exist !
Logically... The Bible was either written by God through Man of the the bible was written by Man.
The Bible was kept in written form from before Moses until Paul. The parts all fit in unity together. Those things written by Moses were about Jesus. The prophecies were perfectly fullfilled by the ENEMIES of Christ against their will. Etc Etc Etc... It is so self evident that the bible CANNOT be written by mere men who rarely agree on anything that it's not funny. However..
Read this .. written in 1643 AD
"We may be moved and induced by the testimony of the Church to an high and reverend esteem of the Holy Scriptures, and the heavenliness of the matter, the efficacy of the doctrine, the majesty of the style, the consent of all the parts, the scope of the whole, ( which is to give all glory to God,) the full discovery it makes of the only way of man's salvation, the many other incomparable excellencies, and the entire perfection thereof, are arguments whereby it doth abundantly evidence itself to be the word of God; yet, notwithstanding, our full persuasion and assurance of the infallible truth, and divine authority thereof, is from the inward work of the Holy Spirit, bearing witness by and with the word in our hearts."
Bottom line... You must be Born by the Spirit.
