NITE.

I use Ameritrade, and up until a few months ago, most of my trades were routed through Knight. Recently however, I have noticed that most of my trades are being routed through other market makers, including MADF, ARCA, HRZG, and even MASH which really surprised me. I'm not sure how widespread this is at Ameritrade. It is my understanding that NITE used to get a good portion of their business from Ameritrade. If true, and if Ameritrade has started routing more orders to other market makers, this could be having a negative effect on Knight's revenues.

I haven't read the press release so I'm not sure what the issues are, but I also have to wonder if the new NASD regulations that have recently gone into effect are pinching Knight's trading profits. Tight spreads would probably squeeze their profit margin and the new rules have resulted in tighter spreads in many stocks.
