Wow! 3Com looks to be shaping up as a great turn-around play with minimal downside risk. 3Com management has made some notable mistakes in the past but I think they may be gaining experience. The recent collaboration with QCOM on the PdQ could open a few doors for them and jumpstart their entry into the wireless network market. Also, 3Com is a buyout candidate and they are spinning off the Palm Computing division to shareholders soon. The palm platform could be very valuable to a handset manufacturer, or perhaps the Palm OS will be modified and licensed to handset vendors without the expertise to develop a world-class OS. In any case the opportunities are many and the risk looks minimal. Bux
