AFTER THE BELL-Intel climbs before Tuesday results

NEW YORK, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Shares Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) rose more than 1 point in after-hours trade Monday on Wall Street expectations the computer chip maker
would post strong earnings Tuesday, traders said.

Intel gained 1-3/16 to 77-11/16 after the bell. The stock rose 13/16 during the regular session, but is still off a 52-week high of 89-1/2.

Semiconductor stocks felt a boost from Novellus Systems Inc. (NasdaqNM:NVLS - news), which posted an increase in third-quarter earnings after hours, traders said. Novellus was halted
and did not trade but KLA-Tencor Corp. (NasdaqNM:KLAC - news) rose 2 to 73, a new 52-week high.

Applied Materials Inc. (NasdaqNM:AMAT - news) rose 1-1/4 to 84 after gaining 1/2 during the day.
