In response to the order of your list giving #1-Reagan, #2-Thatcher and #3-Churchill, I must say that you have to turn that list around.

First of all you must see that Churchill comes first. Were it not for his resolute defense of England and by inference all of Western Civilization there would have been nothing for either of the other two to have done. Night would have descended and we would never again have seen the dawn. Also, the odds against Churchill's success were longer and the consequences of his having lost those battles were much greater historically than anything either of the other two achieved.

Which is not meant to detract from Maggie Thatcher's importance. She too was instrumental in beginning the process of conservative governance and showing how it could succeed politically and then thrive socially. Her efforts too were against longer odds than those of Ronald Reagan because England had by then progressed further down the path of statist intervention in suppressing private activity throughout the economy and all of those personal liberties we cherish.
And again, Maggie came first when no one yet knew that the tide could be turned to restore our freedom. You may also remember that she fought and won a war despite that prevalent defeatism that pervaded England's elite if not their society in general.

Don't think that I said any of the above to diminish Ronald Reagan. He stands together with Washington and Lincoln as one of three truly seminal President's that have blessed our nation's history. The thing is that even though I am not an Anglophile, I find it impossible to look at Ronald Reagan and not understand that neither he nor any of us Americans have stood alone in fighting to preserve freedom in this century.
