US Robotics Backs 3Q Net View 62c/Shr

MINNEAPOLIS (Dow Jones)--U.S. Robotics Inc. (USRX) is comfortable with analysts' consensus estimates of 62 cents a share for the fiscal third quarter and $2.32 a share for the full year ending September.

For the third quarter of fiscal 1995, U.S. Robotics had earnings of 59 cents a share. The company earned $1.55 a share in fiscal 1995.

At the Piper Jaffray conference here, Chief Financial Officer Mark Remissong said growth would come from several areas including the national market.

In addition, he said despite the attention given to the Internet and information access products recently, there is still room to grow in the category.

He said only 35% of households own personal computers, 20% have modems, 11% are online or subscribe to online services and only 8% use the Internet. He said the figures represent a huge untapped growth market.

He added that U.S. Robotics is the only company to provide end-to-end access solutions on both sides of a call, which helps people get information faster. The feature gives a competitive advantage, he said.

So at a 57.29 PE (current PE), does that really say $132.9128 by year end?
