pcOrder.com, ECI2 Forge Strategic E-Commerce Partnership In the Burgeoning
Online Office Products Market

Positions ECI2 to Drive E-Business Solutions for the Office Products Industry;
Leading B2B Technology and Content Provider Expands Offering
With Move to Complementary Market

AUSTIN, Texas and McLEAN, Va., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- pcOrder.com Inc.
(Nasdaq: PCOR) and E-Commerce Industries, Inc. (ECI2) today announced a
strategic partnership to create a complete business-to-business (B2B)
e-commerce platform for the office products industry. The partnership
combines ECI2's expertise in office supplies and e-commerce with pcOrder's
proven experience in robust e-business technology and the standardization of
Internet content. Together, the companies will provide their customers online
access to a comprehensive mix of technology and content for all of their
office needs. The arrangement also extends pcOrder's technology and content
to the office products industry, a complementary industry, providing
additional value and opportunities to their customers and partners.
The domestic market for office products is estimated between $100 and
$200 billion by Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. Forrester Research, Inc. has
estimated that only $1.3 billion of this market was sold via the Internet in
1998. It expects this number to grow to $65.2 billion by 2003. Two critical
factors impacting this growth could be the development of scalable e-commerce
technology and the standardization of content defining the tens of thousands
of office supply products available to online consumers. Today's Internet
office products shoppers may or may not find the products they want online
depending -- not on whether the products are available -- but on how they
conduct their search.
"This partnership with ECI2 enables us to present a comprehensive,
multi-category e-business solution to the market," said Christina Jones,
president and COO of pcOrder.com. "It represents an expansion of pcOrder's
vertical market focus and opens a new opportunity for us in an emerging B2B
e-commerce category. With this collaboration, pcOrder is uniquely positioned
to become the leader in B2B e-commerce technology and content for all business
products needs, from paper clips to stationery to PCs to software."
"pcOrder revolutionized e-commerce for the computer industry with its
comprehensive e-business technology and its standardization of content," said
Paula Jagemann, president and CEO of ECI2. "We are pleased to be able to
drive a similar revolution of the office products industry with pcOrder.
pcOrder's unique expertise in e-business technology and content nicely
complements ECI2's position as an innovator of e-commerce solutions for the
office products industry."
The strategic partnership will provide a multi-channel, multi-category
e-business solution capable of streamlining the office products industry
supply chain. This goal will be accomplished through two facets of the
partnership:

-- ECI2 receives exclusive sub-licensing rights to eStation -- eStation
is pcOrder's third-generation, e-business platform. This platform is
the e-commerce engine behind many leading technology companies,
including Compaq, Nortel Networks, and Ingram Micro. ECI2 will have
exclusive sub-licensing rights that will enable it to deliver
e-commerce solutions based on the eStation platform to the office
products industry. The two companies will collaborate on development,
integration, sales and marketing.

-- ECI2 and pcOrder share in the development of a comprehensive office
supply content database -- ECI2 and pcOrder will use pcOrder's content
collection and management capabilities to build a standard catalog and
content format for the office products industry. This database will
then be distributed as part of the overall e-commerce services supplied
by ECI2 and pcOrder. ECI2 will also have access to pcOrder's
ContentSource, the industry's leading database of comprehensive
information on computer products. The combined content offering will
give business customers online access to detailed marketing, technical,
and product specification information on over 130,000 business
products.

"This partnership combines the strengths of both companies," said John
Sidgmore, chairman of the board for ECI2. "pcOrder brings 3 years of
vertically focused e-business technology and content expertise within the
computer industry, while ECI2 brings office supply knowledge, distribution
partnerships and extensive Internet and e-commerce experience. For the first
time, corporate buyers will be able to source a complete business products
offering through one coordinated shopping experience."
