B.I.G. Licenses Gotcha Brand Clothing
B.I.G. to Focus On Developing Media Network
IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 1999--Broadband Interactive Group (B.I.G.) has licensed the Gotcha, MCD and GirlStar brands to Gotcha Sportswear, a new company formed by Gotcha International and extreme sports apparel manufacturing veteran, Snowmass Apparel, Inc.

The clothing lines will retain their current distribution outlets in surf, skate and snow specialty stores and better department stores throughout the United States and the world. The licensing deal allows B.I.G. to focus on development of its sporting events and media network.

''Snowmass' 30 years of expertise in boardshorts and snowboard apparel makes them a tremendous partner for us,'' said Marvin Winkler, chairman of B.I.G. ''The newly formed separate company, Gotcha Sportswear, will manage all aspects of our clothing operations including design, manufacture and distribution -- while we focus on developing and marketing the broader Gotcha brand, through our media network and events.''

Gotcha Sportswear will be based in Irvine and employ 100 people. The company is headed by president Edmond Wong, formerly executive vice-president of operations for Snowmass, and COO Don Daley, formerly executive vice-president of product development for Snowmass.

''As a specialist vertical manufacturer, we can provide more value to our partners and customers,'' said Wong. ''With our focus, expertise and experience, we deliver, on time, a higher quality product allowing our partners to concentrate on their core competencies.''

B.I.G. runs the Gotcha.com Web site, publishes three sports magazines and manages the Gotcha Pro surf events that attract as many as 200,000 spectators. B.I.G. recently announced Gotcha.tv, which will run on FOX Sports Net for an hour a day, from Jan. 1, 2000 -- featuring the full spectrum of extreme or core sports.

Gotcha.tv will dramatically expand B.I.G.'s reach to the 10 to 34 year-old age group, broadcasting to 68 million homes and allowing significant cross-promotion opportunities throughout the B.I.G. media network.

B.I.G. has received financial investment from Broadcom Corporation (Nasdaq: BRCM - news), an enabler of broadband communications to and throughout the home and business, as well as individual investments by Broadcom's president and CEO Henry T. Nicholas III, Broadcom co-founder Henry Samueli and Gotcha CEO Marvin Winkler.
