To All: Interesting Article

Just saw an article that may explain some of the recent drop in JAVA's price. In the Los Angeles Times Business Section(4/8/97) they had a "SECTOR SPOTLIGHT" on what eles but coffee stocks. The title was coffee stocks get a case of the Jitters. It basically said that the major reason that over the last few months coffee company stocks have fallen is because of the rising coffee prices. Although they did not list Food Concepts (JAVA) the did name most of its big competitors all of which has fallen recently:(% of high)

Brothers Gourmet: -46%
Coffee People : -31%
Diedrich Coffee: -69%
Java Centrale: -73%
New World Coffee: -68%
Starbucks: -24%

I would also like to praise Food Concepts Management for generating a profit since many of these other coffee places lost money last year(except Starbucks) and that was not counting the two recent deals.
If a major problem with the stock price of most of the companies are because of coffee prices then I may pick up more stock soon since I can hold my stocks longer then the time period that coffee bean prices can stay up since this is not commodity(trading), sooner or later the prices will fall and then hopefully the rising profits will raise the stock prices of all coffee concerned companies(IMHO). If this does happen I may even start drinking coffee :-)

Does anyone know how many stores or locations does cigar box operate? Since the deal Food Concepts has with the company seems no risk at all.

Good Luck,
John
