Softbank, Ingram Miro to end PC tie-up--report

TOKYO, Oct 12 (Reuters) - Japan's Softbank Corp and Ingram Micro Inc (NYSE:IM - news) of the United States are to end a tie-up on selling low-priced non-brand personal computers in Japan, a business daily reported.

A spokesman for Softbank was not immediately available to comment on the report in Monday's Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

The report said the firms decided on the move as a series of introductions of inexpensive models in Japan by brand-name makers such as Dell Computer Corp (NasdaqNM:DELL - news) and International Business Machines Corp (NYSE:IBM - news) have taken away their price competitiveness.

Softbank had been taking orders from corporate customers for Ingram's non-brand personal computers since February.

Softbank's shares ended Tuesday's morning session at 43,600 yen, down 450 yen or 1.02 percent from Friday.
