[Chat- on market-makers, manipulation, and **** ifs]
"Market-maker Manipulation" is the most frequent cry on many SI threads whenever prices take a dip, and I have "heard" it even about a penny stock that has a spread of 0.5-1›.
My suggestion regarding terminology:
"Manipulation" for illegal activities, such as spreading falsehood to drive price up or down.
"Profiteering" for what many m-m s do in widening the spread when the demand goes up.
"Normal behavior," for stocks which had significant run-ups declining in the absence of real revenues or earnings, or guarantees of the same for the near future, after the investor who bought in the hopes of them had waited a year.
************** In view of all the "IFs" about Amati, I can't help adding the first of those (with a custom ending, for which I apologize):
If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, But make allowance for their doubting too; If you can wait and not be tired by waiting, Or being lied about, don't deal in lies, Or being hated don't give way to hating, And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
[You might be holding high-priced Amati, the hopes of ADSL And - what is more - unrepentantly buying more still.] |
