No need to worry about i2 becoming an I-nutz stock. The blurred lines in the software industry have everyone scrambling and really, nobody has it figured out yet. Look at the Peoplesoft/Vantive merger yesterday - on a day when Vantive missed their estimates and Peoplesoft met their estimates. In the ERP sector - where lots of bravado from PSFT, ORCL and SAP about having new CRM products ready to roll this fall - delays have been pushed out into late next spring or early summer (thus far). What the hell? Peoplesoft just buys their product. Not exactly how they had mentioned they were going to go about it. Misery loves company. Meanwhile, Siebel quietly and loudly just goes about growing by leaps and bounds.

i2 is, as you said, going to save corporations a lot of money (as they have been). Not only in the US, but worldwide. I'm very bullish on this company, but we have to watch the growth of all their numbers for confirmation. They are in new territory now in addition to their traditional territory. The B2B market is so strong, that many will scramble to it and many will profit for the first few rounds of the game. Classic hyper-growth where the basket approach does make sense.

Ariba is so new and so unique with what they offer - the industry cannot even describe it, nor can they do a decent analysis of it. This may lean us in the direction of saying it is earlier in the game, but it won't take long for the game to be understood and the numbers to solidify the validity of the game going on.

In light of this, i2 and Ariba look very promising in this space. The lines are blurred and the game is unfolding. Moore and gang don't have a handle on it either. Important to note that the risk is higher at this point until some serious punches are thrown and some standards are set.
