Well, Elmer, what exactly would you call recompiling the benchmark code using optimizations that were not used for your own (Intels) previous chip benchs or for your competitors'? I assert that this has made it impossible to accurately gauge the improvement due to CUmine's chip enhancements, and yes, I am perfectly aware of Ten's report that CUmine shows X% perf increase over Katmai, but guess what: Some of the CUmine changes make it MORE LIKELY to benefit from prefetch (ref. Haim Barad), thus making even that relative performance gauge flawed. Why do you think Intel didn't show both the old and new code benchmarks? Of course I expect CUmine to be faster! What I want to TRULY know is how much faster, and the benchmark alteration prevents me from knowing that. And I hope you're not suggesting that because the desperate AMD did something that mighty Intel should do it too? Cripes, Elmer, you're smarter than that.
