If you are a non resident Indian living abroad then you can open an account with a broker in India and that is one way to do it. Unfortunately foreign nationals (non Indian) are currently not permitted to trade on the Indian Exchanges, only foreign institutions are allowed but this may change in a year or two is what I am hearing.

Or you can wait for some of the companies to list in the U.S, about a dozen or so Indian comapanies are getting ready to list either on NYSE or NASDAQ within the year or so.
