I'll have to vote against you on that one, Bert. While the technology has all the Wow! factor that we could want, I'll be the first to admit that the technology is NOT ready for the consumer yet.

Of the prototypes shown at the recent meeting, only the two high performance displays (which were fixed on a stand in the demo) as good candidates for a consumer device. At a minimum, the company would need a comfortable, lightweight/small, full color, high resolution display (min 107? x 75?) that it was willing to sell this summer for $5K. The company does not want to dilute its message by showing a prototype that give less performance than some of the LCD glasses already being sold. It will take awhile to convince consumers that see-through and daylight readability are useful since most consumers don't use their computers in such a way as to need it.

As LCD glasses have shown, a consumer market for the product is not yet ready nor mature enough to pay for the superior features of the VRD over LCD technology.
