GENEVA, Telecom '99, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Pace Micro Technology plc is launching the next generation of digital set-top boxes (STB) that will enable telecommunications companies to deliver high-quality video and interactive services over their existing copper wires.

The DSL4000 builds on the success of Pace's current product, the DSL3875, which was used as the reference design for the Oracle Video Server and has continued Pace's record in achieving world firsts in DSL service rollouts. The DSL4000 will be faster and cheaper than its predecessors and is a preferred set-top box for the Oracle Video Server.

TELECOM '99, GENEVA, Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Pace Micro Technology plc has commenced delivery of its second generation, ADSL-capable, digital set-top boxes (STB) for the imminent launch of Kingston Interactive Television, a new subsidiary of Hull-based Kingston Communications. Currently in field trials, the advanced STBs mark the first delivery of ADSL-capable boxes from Pace to Kingston Interactive Television under the terms of the contract awarded to Element 14, a division of Acorn, in May 1999. Element 14's set-top box business was acquired by Pace in June this year and included the Kingston contract.
