Actually, those were Morris's own words. He even added that Dem Arthur Lyman was impressed by Reagan's observations when he read the diaries as part of the Iran-Contra investigation.

I wouldn't expect that your reviewer, who comes from the NYT editorial page, would like Reagan. After all, Reagan spent decades making them look foolish.
