Bobby, interesting that you should mention this...in fact every BK or major bear market has begun with an increase in individual stock BK's. i remember the GAP most fondly as a warning sign in '87, but it was not the only one. the market began to punish earnings misses and warnings by extraordinarily deep collapses in the stocks concerned, while the party kept going in certain sectors and issues. let me add that i believe that the market is EXTREMELY vulnerable here, in spite of the increase in bearish sentiment. the 'continuity of confidence' is really in danger now. what it would take to turn us away from the abyss would be a strong rally in bonds NOW. i fear we won't get it, for the reasons i keep on pointing out...ultimately though the bond should see a big inflow of funds leaving the stock market, that continues to be my expectation. regards, hb
