The most interesting aspect I noted in the conf call was the question from one analyst if the hickups with the .18 micron technology and delays in the Merced rollout would not have occured, would INTC have met the 2nd quarter guidance (especially on the GM percentage).

Bryant answered bluntly in one word: "Yes."

So one can talk alot about all possible things and "explanations", it seems to me that at the heart of the "miss" is a technical/operational issue that is in the process of being resolved. The stock may get hammered tomorrow, but that's creating just another buying opportunity for this world-class company. Longterm investors should be happy, IMO.

I actually found Bryant sounded very annoyed, uninspired and tired. I don't know, though, whether this is his usual way of speaking and presenting... sure wouldn't win a rhethorics award that way...
