Hi Copperhill Shareholder's: Look at what Twin Gold has discovered "next door" to our Northern Labrador diamond properties...looks like a new area play is about to heat up.You will also note today (Oct 12/99) that Marum Resources has made application for prospective looking property in the area.
TWIN GOLD receives DIAMOND ANALYSIS on TORNGAT 2 / 3 kimberlite
TORONTO, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - Twin Gold Corporation (TSE:TWG) is pleased to announce diamond counts from the caustic fusion of grab samples derived from Twin Gold's TORNGAT kimberlite dykes numbered 2 and 3 on the Alluviaq Fjord, Ungava Bay, northern Quebec. The sample analysis, including the microdiamond extraction, selection, and description was performed by the Mineralogical Services of Lakefield Research Limited and yielded the following results:
------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sample ID Weight/kg Number of Diamonds ------------------------------------------------------------------------- AD 06-14-99 10.864 26 -------------------------------------------------------------------------
Of the 26 diamonds, four (4) are macro diamonds. The Certificate of Analysis indicates the diamonds to be of very high quality. All are white, with the exception of two which are classified as off-white and all are transparent with the exception of six (6) which are classified as translucent. The percent preservation is between 95% and 62.5%, comparable to the higher range of microdiamonds from other cratonic areas in Canada. The TORNGAT 2 / 3 grab sample AD 06-14-99 was collected from kimberlite rubble at the base of the dykes which project more than 1000 feet, almost vertically, above the sample location. The TORNGAT 2 dyke is +/- 0.6 m and the TORNGAT 3 dyke is +/- 1 m wide. The dykes are separated in the fjord wall by a band of the gneissic host rock, +/- 3 m in width. Samples have also been collected from the TORNGAT 1 dyke which is located approximately 700 meters south of TORNGAT 2 / 3 and is +/- 2.5 m in width. When it was originally discovered by Professor J. Bourne and his exploration team, samples from TORNGAT 1 yielded a 1.5 mm gem quality macro diamond. A total of 337 kg of sample material was gathered on the 1.5 km horizontal exposure of the TORNGAT 1 dyke. The results of all outstanding samples are expected shortly. Twin Gold in addition to exploring the diamond prospect on the east side of the Ungava Bay in Northern Quebec is also an emerging producer of a low cost gold mining project of 1 million ounces of gold and 3.2 million ounces of silver reserves in Idaho, U.S.A.
