Hi Cheryl,
Looks like Gates is opening his eyes. He still doesn't see the SUNW light however. He thinks the Windows 2000 will be the best server product for wireless.

Microsoft Changes Mission To Include Net Devices

<<< October 12, 1999 -- How important will Net devices be in the future? Important
enough, says Bill Gates, to change Microsoft's mission statement to include them.

Gates said today that the company's mission statement has changed from putting a
PC in every home and on every desk to one that includes incorporating its
technology in a wide range of devices. He was speaking at the Telecom '99
conference in Geneva,

"This is the first time in our 25-year history that we've changed our vision
statement," Gates said.

Gates also showed off a prototype of a Windows CE-based smart phone. The
device had a color screen and could return e-mail either in text, a phone call, a
recorded message or a fax. He gave no prices, vendors or timetables for release
of the product.

While the company is increasingly focusing on Net devices, its Windows CE for
small footprint devices like smart phones and handhelds has met with limited
success. Philips said last week that it would stop making Windows CE devices and Symbian's EPOC operating system has garnered much more support among smart phone vendors.

Gates also claimed that the forthcoming Windows 2000 Server product will be the best platform for the wireless world.>>>

Is Gates really that clueless about Windows 2000?

All the best,
Michael
