Another E Business Contract Win: Lockheed Martin Skunk Works Awards Calian $800,000 US Contract to Develop Electronic Document Management System
Calian Technology Ltd. is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $800,000.00 US contract by the renowned Lockheed Martin Skunk Works of Palmdale, California. Under the terms of the contract, Calian will design and develop a proof-of-concept document management system supporting the United States Air Force's F-117 Nighthawk Stealth Fighter program.
The contract involves the implementation of a secure document management system, automated e-publishing and secure Internet access supported by internal authoring, management and administration. This system will manage large volumes of mission-critical technical and engineering information used by US Air Force engineers and technicians. The system will use secure Internet Protocol (IP) technologies for information distribution and access, in order to ensure data availability to authorized users. The system will be designed to take advantage of Internet data exchange standards such as XML. This contract brings together the skills of Calian's Document Management and Knowledge Management practices that will deliver the system to the Skunk Works in early 2000.
According to John Mertl, Vice President of Marketing, "this system will be the first US Air Force program to adopt these new technologies and architectures. Calian is very excited about the opportunity for growth that this project presents." He went on to say, "Calian is extremely proud to have been selected by the Skunk Works from a prestigious list of competitors. This win clearly demonstrates Calian's ability to deliver end-to-end e-solutions, particularly in technically robust and demanding environments."
