Michael,
I have spoken with the company and the VSE and expressed your exact same sentiments. I was told that this is the way this situation is handled to ensure equal opportunity for shareholders as this is a "major transaction". It doesn't seem kosher to me. Bre-x sure wasn't halted very long and mergers, aquisitions and plans of arrangement happen all the time without this serious interruption of trading.
