Allen, your characteristically thorough reply to my post sent me back to do a little homework.

A research report on INTS indicates that they sell to 26 of the 28 auto manufacturers and that this accounts for nearly 25% of revenue. In line with your belief, the report also states that "22 out of the top 24 automotive manufacturers use the MATRIXx product." MATRIXx accounted for approximately 23% of 1995 revenue. These two facts taken together suggest that some automotive customers are using pSOS. I don't have an estimate of how large that penetration is, but I do know that Boeing is a large user for MATRIXx so that auto companies do not comprise all of MATRIXx sales. The research report indicates that the aerospace market is 20% of revenue. I also recall seeing a press release from INTS indicating a contract from Ford last winter. I seem to recall that it was for pSOS but I'm not sure.

Of course none of this diminishes the importance of WIND's win with GM. Clearly there will be a growing automotive market for on-board navigation (GPS) and communication systems that will surely employ RTOS. In the case of GM, this gear might come through Hughes Electronics (which now contains Delco)--already having had some heritage with GM would seemingly benefit WIND, moreover, it'd be wise for GM to standardize on a single RTOS for their vehicles.

We apparently saw the same ad in EE Times--I initially did not pick up the implication that the i960RP would reside as a coprocessor to the P6--but it was there in plain sight. That INTEL is going to start shipping that configuration is wonderful news.

I didn't realize that MSFT had so large an effort on Microsoft at Work. I think that Novell's NEST is trying to provide a similar function and I believe that WIND is invloved, but not exclusively.

Just for the record, I want to refine my numbers on MOTO's stake in MWAR. They now hold about 1.5M shares and options to buy an additional 1.8M shares.
