Hi, Steve, good to hear from you. I appreciate your posts and the time it must take. How have you been doing on the markets lately? I emptied my portfolio on the big run-up because I felt a downdraft, but before I did I started trading options in the U.S. I'm waiting to sense that the markets are turning up on strength, and there are other factors out of the way.
I know a little about a few of the stocks you've mentioned. Triple E, and Spider.. been in and out of them different times; but the only time I'd buy now is on news, or if they get trounced since so many of them have a habit of running up only to get dumped.
I don't know anything about the management of Spider, so I can't say how good it is. They've been touted for years now to have diamonds.. the only question is what century? I've seen it run from .15 to over .50, and I'd load up at the lows and blow it out on the highs.
Still, it is an interesting prospect even if it does run in these kinds of cycles.
I should soon be able to have quotes for all the Canadian exchanges.. and I'll be looking forward to it.
One of the several that I did play that turned out was Argosy on VSE.. got a bunch well below half a dollar and sent them sailing over 2.
It's the right time of year for Spider, though. And a good time for specs on Vancouver. I've always had a good time clipping them for a dime or a quarter in the Spring.
I don't know if I asked you - are you following the U.S. banks? And do you think the numbers on Thursday and Friday will have an effect?
Also, did you hear the CBC tonight on Bre-X? They had on John McBeth from Indonesia, who reported on Bre-X from the first. He said that in the middle of '96 a Canadian analyst called him after going over Busang, checking samples, and asked him, "What would you say if I told you this was a fraud?"
Interesting. I hope it's not old news.
