FreeShop.com Inks Marketing Deal With eBay

PR Newswire, Wednesday, October 13, 1999 at 08:50

SEATTLE, Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- (NASDAQ:FSHP) FreeShop.com
(www.freeshop.com), a leading provider of online direct marketing services,
today announced a strategic, long-term agreement with eBay (www.ebay.com), the
world's pioneer in person-to-person online trading.
The five-year deal positions eBay as the exclusive sponsor for FreeShop's
Hobbies category. Over 3.7(1) million consumers visit FreeShop every month. As
a category anchor, and with offers placed throughout the FreeShop site, eBay
holds prime real estate for attaining high visibility and targeted traffic.
"FreeShop is a highly visited Web property where consumers are going to
access all kinds of promotional offers. Our success with FreeShop over the
past two years convinced us to sign a long-term contract," said Steve Westly,
vice president of marketing and business development for eBay. "We are excited
to partner with FreeShop and introduce their visitors to eBay."
For FreeShop's visitors, the marketing deal provides access to the world's
largest online personal trading community. eBay's selection of more than
2.8 million items for sale in an efficient and entertaining trading site is
complementary to FreeShop's full line of free, trial and promotional offers.
"The fact that a successful company such as eBay signs on for five years
speaks volumes for FreeShop's business model," said Tim Choate, president and
CEO of FreeShop. "At FreeShop.com, we have found that free and trial offers
are an incredibly effective way to introduce consumers to shopping on the Web,
and believe that FreeShoppers will greatly enjoy visiting eBay's entertaining
personal trading site."
FreeShop provides online direct marketing services, giving consumers
access to over 1,000 free, trial and promotional offers through its Web site
(www.freeshop.com) and email newsletters. Consumers seeking to discover, learn
about or try new products can choose from a collection of offers from over
100 companies.
