[World DRAM Price] Price for Volume Purchasers Soars to US$7
October 13, 1999 (TOKYO) -- DRAM prices for volume purchasers topped US$7 in North America and Asia, marking an increase of around US$1 to $1.5 over the previous month.




According to a price survey conducted by ICIS-LOR, which has operations in London, Houston and Singapore, the 30-day rolling average price of 64Mb DRAMs (PC100, 8M x 8) for contract companies until Sept. 24 was US$7.43 in North America, US$6.79 in Europe and US$7.21 in Asia.

Compared to the previous week's rolling average price till Sept. 17, increases were 8.71 percent in North America, 3.46 percent in Europe and 5.31 percent in Asia.

As to the price of memory modules, when compared to the previous week prices of 64MB dual inline memory modules (DIMMs, PC 100) rose by 17.16 percent to US$92.51 in North America, by 17.74 percent to US$97.00 in Europe and by 18.92 percent to US$93.84 in Asia.

As for the price of 64Mb DRAMs (PC100) for volume purchasers compared to the previous week, North America saw the largest leap of 8.71 percent.

DRAM spot prices continued to rise by 20 percent week-on-week for two weeks running. The difference between the prices for contract purchasers and the spot prices is about US$4.
