Bottom line for me is does Windows tell you it is out of memory or give you other hints by the way it functions. The indicators are more for entertainment or comparison or to see how much a particular app is taking or how it is behaving.

Once I had a corrupted program that was causing Windows to crash. You could see using the System Monitor how the machine would run out of memory as soon as you opened the app.

I guess the monitor is good for showing you when you have a misbehaving app.

How much memory does a daytrader need? A lot less now at these prices than a couple months ago! <g>

I run RTIII, a few browsers, mirc and email with RAM to spare on Win98 w/128MB.

I say add at these prices if you just can't stand it anymore.

PS Make sure you've got your swap file set big enough to handle what you have opened -- 2.5 X RAM is recommended.
