Let me try and respond: racism is wrong, because it hurts people. Sexism is wrong for the same reason. One "undeniable truth" that Rush had right was that words have meaning. What too many people don't understand is that words, in addition to having meaning, can also hurt people (even when that is not necessarily the intent of the writer/speaker); the fact that women "are held in high esteem"--which is certainly not true across the board--is largely irrelevant. Sexist (and racist) statements desensitize us to the evils of sexism (and racism), and should not be made.
