Thom:

I am actually in South Snohomish County in an area which, like Bellevue, has become (in part) a suburb of Seattle. Where are you now?

Thanks for the LEAPS idea, I will make time to look into it.

I cannot imagine CSRV teaming up with AOL. What causes anyone to think it might happen?

I have heard of the dumb terminal idea before. Would you want a dumb computer? Neither would I and I cannot imagine anyone else wanting as much. We all want a little horsepower on our table, plus the net.

As for cost, Compaq and Packard Bell have come out with $1,000.00 models. I like Compaq but think the Packard Bell model the better value in this competition. I thought of looking into Packard Bell as a long, know a few people around who have not computed heretofor but are doing so now with new Packard Bells.

I think computers, with some horsepower, will continue down in price. The monitor seems to be the price stumbling block now, the cathode (sp?) ray tube costs and it is hard to beat down that cost like the other computer components. Even so, there will be technological breakthroughs in monitors. We may well see flat screens (not so much out back behind the screen) that not only become cost competitive but come down below the c. tube cost.

I put in a bid on another put on AOL at 48+, pity I did not get my limit price because the bad news on AOL's toll free number not being toll free at all ($6/hr one lady was stunned with a one month bill of nearly $600 and she was not alone, the Attorneys General are after AOL again and this will not be the end of it). I would have made money as AOL declined and is still down some from those prices.

I just do not know where this business about AOL being the only pure internet play got started. I see things quite differently on that one. Seattle Val
