Hello JDN,

I could help but chuckle as I read your post ... how true it is.

> She told me that USA is more Socialist than Russia!! Thats how far

I had the opportunity to travel to East Germany (Dresden) just after the wall fell. It was an amazing trip and quite an eye-opener. There were numerous university professors setting up computer consulting and resale companies.

One day during lunch (and through a translator) a professor ask me "Why do the US citizens want socialism?". I was stunned ... but he reinforced the observations by explaining that all the time behind the wall they had limited details on American life. However, with the wall gone, he was able to read almost everything he could ever want. But he felt that the trend he was watching (and he explained it was obvious to him!) was that while they had been fighting for self-responsibility and less government control, Americans seem to be fighting for more regulation, deflection of responsibility, and "socialist" attitudes.

He was amazed that for a country that "talks the talk" about "freedom" it appeared that Americans are not willing to deal with the other aspects of "freedom" ...

The pendulum is swinging ... ;-)
