VocalTec Ensemble Architecture Advanced Service Features Demonstrated At World Telecom Geneva
HERZLIYA, Israel--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 13, 1999--Today at World Telecom 99 in Geneva, VocalTec Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq:VOCL - news) demonstrated advanced service features aimed at enhancing its end-to-end Internet protocol (IP) telephony platform, the VocalTec Ensemble Architecture(TM).
These features include enhanced Interactive Voice Response and the addition of Signalling System 7 (SS7). An open, scalable IP telephony platform, the VocalTec Ensemble Architecture supports the roll out and management of multiple IP-based services including phone-to-phone, Web-enabled call centers, Internet Phone© Call Waiting, PC-to-phone, fax-to-fax and PC-to-PC.
VocalTec's enhanced Interactive Voice Response features multiple language and currency support, as well as balance retrieval and password change, enabling service providers to offer more advanced services including a pre-paid calling card solution. This enhancement of prepaid calling cards by Interactive Voice Response is available for the VocalTec Telephony Gateway series 120(TM).
VocalTec has also made available SS7 support for the high-density, standards-based VocalTec Telephony Gateway series. A range of SS7 gateways are offered, providing carriers with low cost solutions for incorporating PSTN features without having to build them on the IP side. These solutions comply with all major SS7 standards including the ITU-T ETSI and ANSI, covering a broad list of national SS7 protocol variations for faster entry into specific markets. This support enables carriers to create scalable solutions for integrating the reliability and intelligent services of the traditional telephone network with a multi-service IP telephony network based on the VocalTec Ensemble Architecture.
ISDN User Part (ISUP) SS7 for call handling is now available for the VocalTec Telephony Gateway series 120. It will be available during the fourth quarter of 1999 for the VocalTec Telephony Gateway series 2000. Transaction Capabilities Application Part (TCAP) SS7 for database and switch-to-switch services will be announced for the series 120 and 2000 at a later date.
