MUMBAI: Nicholas Piramal India Ltd has reported a 22 per cent increase in net profit at Rs. 25.57 crores for the half year ended September 30, 1999 as against Rs. 20.87 crores in the corresponding period the previous year.

Total income increased from Rs. 213.42 crores to Rs. 242 crores. Total expenditure stood at Rs. 196.62 crores (Rs. 177.6 crores).

Profit before tax increased from Rs. 23.32 crores to Rs. 28.92 crores. Interest dropped from Rs. 8.25 crores to Rs. 7.12 crores. Depreciation increased from Rs. 4.18 crores to Rs. 5 crores.

For the second quarter ended September 30, 1999, total income stood at Rs. 127 crores (Rs. 111.96 crores). Net profit increased from Rs. 11.25 crores to Rs. 14.12 crores. (BLr)
